Over 50 vehicles available to drive, Electrics, too

Portland, Ore., Feb. 10, 2020 – There are few finer auto show experiences than sliding behind the wheel of a new vehicle and taking it for a spin. Ticket holders can do that multiple times at the upcoming Portland International Auto Show (PIAS), running Thursday, Feb. 20 – Sunday, Feb. 23, 2020. Some 50 vehicles from various brands will be available for the duration of the show providing interactive opportunities, and lots of smiles.

“We put great effort into engaging consumers at the show through a number of fun, educational and interactive features on the show floor,” says Greg Remensperger, executive vice president of the Metro Portland New Car Dealers Association, the show organizer. “Test drives are an extension of the show and provide tremendous opportunities for ticket holders to comparison shop by actually driving new vehicles, while learning about their features and technology from professional product specialists.”

Participating automakers include Honda, Subaru, Toyota, Volkswagen, Nissan and the Ford Motor Company with their $2,000 private offer on select 2019/2020 vehicles. New this year, Forth, a local organization that’s advancing electric, smart and shared mobility, will host an all-EV Test Drive “Electric Drive” – a first for the show.

Consumers will be able to experience nearly every type of vehicle on the market, including cars, trucks, SUVs, minivans, crossovers, hybrids, and even electric vehicles. Signage will be posted throughout the convention center directing show attendees to the various test drive areas.

Also, the Northwest Honda Dealers will host a special Honda Ride and Drive located in front of the Oregon Convention Center on the south end. A number of models, including the popular Honda HRV, Ridgeline and the new Passport will be available for test drives.

Ticketed show attendees typically must meet age requirements and have a current driver’s license to participate in Test Drives. There is no additional fee to participate, but those interested should visit the specific event areas for more information and explanation of program rules. Trained product specialists accompany drivers, and each Test Drive takes about 15 minutes.
