Auto Show keeps visitors abreast of the latest in auto technology with feature areas

Portland, Ore., Feb. 10, 2020  – As technology becomes more integrated into day-to-day living, it’s natural that the technology content in new cars keeps pace. With Oregon being a hub for automotive tech advancements, it is also a given that the Portland International Auto Show (PIAS) will be highlighting technology advances. Attendees can see the latest in three feature areas during the show, which runs at its new time on Thurs., Feb. 20 – Sun., Feb. 23, at the Oregon Convention Center.

One of the goals of the PIAS is to educate consumers so that they can make more knowledgeable purchasing decisions. This has never been more important than now with the speed that technological advances are being adapted for automotive use. Three areas within the show have been devoted to providing the latest info on EVs, autonomous features within vehicles, and the Smart Highway.

Tech Center

The Tech Center will educate show attendees about the latest level of automation available on most new-model vehicles, such as crash avoidance, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning systems and other apps. This first wave of autonomous applications typically run in the background and will allow consumers to become accustomed to the technology. Audi, BMW, Chevrolet, Hyundai, Volkswagen, and others will be on hand to show off their tech. Connectivity will also be on display for guests to learn about working with smart devices and various road usage apps, with downloads and live demos. OReGo will demonstrate its road usage and driving habits app, while The Columbia-Willamette Clean Cities Coalition will educate on EVs and other alternative propulsions, along with the EV Highway.

OEVA EV Showcase, cont.

OEVA will staff the exhibit, located within the Tech Center, with EV owners and experts to answer questions about the benefits of ownership and specific models on display. They will also present information on conversion of standard vehicles to EV. Vehicle detail meter boards will also be on display for easy, side-by-side comparison of all the vehicles on display.

Electric Avenue

Rock down to Electric Avenue, presented by Forth in partnership with PGE, Pacific Power, and Clark Public Utilities, to learn the facts about the latest in EV technology in an interactive setting. A dedicated team will be on site to educate attendees about advancements in EV technology and dispel range anxiety myths thanks to the latest generation of EVs. Chargeway will present life-sized interactive beacons showcasing the ability of its app to simplify charging questions and assist in planning a trip in an EV. Finally, visitors can charge their mobile devices and view informative videos about vehicles that are available today.

The OEVA EV Showcase

The Oregon Electric Vehicle Association sponsors the EV Showcase that features the wide variety of EVs available today. Many of the leading manufacturers, including Nissan, Hyundai, BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Kia, Chevrolet, Volkswagen, Volvo and others, will exhibit.
